To address these challenges, Itron, Inc., CPS Energy, The Webber Energy Group at The University of Texas at Austin, and Disco Learning Media have partnered to create Smart Energy Education – a new initiative that aims to improve energy and water literacy, encourage conservation, and advance sustainability awareness.
Smart Energy Education is composed of several robust STEM programs, such as the Resourcefulness, an energy and water eCourse for high school students, and the Watt Watchers of Texas, a K-12 energy-saving program for schools and families. Each program on Smart Energy Education provides a wealth of learning materials, from standards-aligned lessons and activities to videos and interactive games. Additionally, many programs are also available in Spanish as a result of Itron and CPS Energy’s ongoing commitment to bring energy and water literacy to as many communities as possible.
Funded by global technology leader Itron, Inc. and CPS Energy, the nation’s largest municipally-owned energy company, Smart Energy Education is part of a larger energy-literacy program initiative to build a strong future talent pipeline. Smart Energy Education is bridging collaboration among community thought leaders, trusted educational programs and digital platforms that are working to improve energy-water literacy within the Greater San Antonio community, and around the world. The goal of the Smart Energy Education initiative is to demonstrate how improving energy and water literacy can foster community engagement, and inspire collaborations among communities to solve the world’s greatest challenges of the future.
